Required in NRDS for KS Reporting

‘Āina Ulu Reporting Framework Overview

  • Focus on active stewardship using both quantitative and qualitative data. How are we documenting progress and telling the story of Hui ‘Āina Ulu? This refocusing will enable us to show the different phases of stewardship, while still tethering to the unique story of each site.

  • Existing quantitative data collection is refined, while maintaining a consistent measure of impact across sites and historical data.

What is different?

  • Metrics will focus on Stewardship, Engagement, and Leadership.

  • Min 3 has been removed as requirement. Zip code for learners has been moved to numbers served report. Partners will need to choose one representative zipcode per group.

  • Stewardship Outcomes and Measures have been revised to simplify and consolidate measures across the hui and provide additional choice.

  • Quantitative measures (Numbers Served, Dollars Leveraged, Budgeting, and Stewardship metrics) are now only required at quarter 2 (midyear) and quarter 4 (end of year) reports.

  • Qualitative highlights/challenges for each Metric group (Stewardship, Engagement, and Leadership) plus photos are required each quarter.

What is required and how to report?

  • NRDS will remain the primary platform for reporting going forward. Forms have been revised to remove extraneous information and make direct uploading easier for partners if that is preference.

  1. Stewardship Report - Acres Stewarded. Designate total acreage within NRDS mapping function. Check alignment with total feasible acreage per KS land agreement. Create subpolygons for sites and designate as active or inactive stewardship.

    1. Active - lands that are actively cared for through regular work or gathering

    2. Inactive - Lands not currently being cared for or used regularly, even if they were used in the past (these areas may be waiting for a new plan or resources). Fallow lands should be considered inactive.

  2. Stewardship Report - Partner Choice on consistent quantitative measure of impact – Choose at least 1 and up to 3 and be consistent. If you do it, please report it!

    1. lbs of food produced/gathered, type of food, lbs of food distributed

    2. # of plants planted, plant type, plants distributed

    3. Other Choice – Project based – eg. cultural sites stewarded.

  1. Impact Report - Highlights for ʻĀina Stewardship - Paragraph including at least 1 photo with caption or video for each quarter. Videos need to be a clickable link because they cannot be directly uploaded at this time.

  2. Impact Report - Quarterly challenges for ʻĀina Stewardship – brief identification and ways to alleviate. The photo could also focus on the challenge as this is much of our work.

Community Engagement Quantitative (Q2/Q4) (url varies by project)

  1. Number’s served/ Event Log report. Report has been slightly revised and includes zipcode. Choose a representative zipcode for the group or event. Default should be the site zipcode.

Qualitative (quarterly)

  1. Impact Report- Highlights for Community Engagement - Paragraph including at least 1 photo with caption or video for each quarter. Videos need to be a clickable link because they cannot be directly uploaded at this time. Paragraph including photo or video for each quarter

  2. Impact Report- Challenges for Engagement. Captioned photo can be here as well.

Leadership and capacity Quantitative (Q2/Q4)

  1. Capacity leveraged report - This is the dollars leveraged report. Calculate in-kind here.

2. Budget Report - Number of Interns/staff (including unpaid). Including Budget and Org total operating budget. Budgeting of ʻĀina Ulu contract.

Qualitative

  1. Impact Report - Highlights/challenges centered around organizational capacity. How the organization may be evolving and changing over time. eg. new internship program, increased staffing, etc.

    1. Highlights paragraph including at least 1 photo with caption or video for each quarter. Videos need to be a clickable link because they cannot be directly uploaded at this time.

    2. Challenges paragraph around org leadership and capacity. Photo can be here as well.

  2. Impact Report - Highlights of Influence. How are you supporting/interfacing with orgs throughout paeʻāina and beyond to support your mission? – Networks, research papers, Conferences
