This is how to set up and customize a printable detail view from a survey or template.

  1. Navigate to the survey you would like to create a PDF for

  2. Select the "i" details button next to the survey you want to choose

  3. Click "Print PDF" on the top right of your screen

  4. This will pop open a window where you can customize your PDF

Customizing your PDF

  • From the initial pop up window, you can change the padding size by typing an integer into the padding box and choosing which unit you'd prefer (cm or in)

  • You can also choose whether you would like your export to be portrait or landscape orientation

  • If you click on an area with text you will see the options to

    • Edit the Label Font Size by choosing a size category

    • Edit the Text Font Size by choosing a size category

    • Size Categories

      • xs - extra small

      • sm - small

      • md - medium

      • lg - large

    • Edit the Text Area

      • Copy - duplicate the text area highlighted

      • Insert - A box will pop up prompting you to choose an option to insert right below the text area.

      • Remove - deletes the text area from the preview

  • If you click on a table you will see the options to

    • Edit the Label and Text font size

    • Choose Table or Form style to display the data

    • Remove individual columns on your table by pressing the red "remove" button

    • Adjust the size of the table and columns by clicking and dragging which lines you would like to move

  • If you click on a chart, you can edit what is shown and navigate similarly to the chart in detail view. You can zoom in or out and choose what information you would like pictured.

Maps

  • If you click on a Map, you can navigate around similarly to the main map on NRDS. You can zoom in or out, click the arrows to enter full screen, and move around the map image to show exactly what you want.

  • To insert a Custom Map you can click the insert button and select Custom Map

  • When a "Map" section pops up, click on the section then select the custom map you want to add on the left hand side dropdown menu.

  • Once your custom map has loaded into your PDF view, you can edit it and navigate similarly to your normal custom map.

  • You will also see a new plus button shows up at the top of your map.

  • If you click this plus button, you have the option to add a legend. Select legend and a legend will be added to the bottom of your map area for you to edit and adjust.

    • To add/remove labels from your legend, you can check/uncheck layers from your layer menu to show what you desire!

  • After printing your PDF, a North Arrow and Scale Bar will show up on your custom map.

Logos

  • The PDF will automatically have a NRDS logo attached to the printing preview, but if you would like to change this to a team logo you can!

    • Click on the NRDS logo and the "picture" button

    • You can select a logo from your photo gallery

Photos

  • If you have a photo attached to a record, you can edit it within the PDF preview

    • Resize the photo by clicking the edges and dragging to the preferred size

    • Move the photo around/center it by dragging it to where you prefer

    • Add a file name, caption, and descriptive text to the photo and organize the orientation using the buttons on the left hand side

After you are done customizing your PDF, you can scroll down to the bottom and select "Print PDF" which will automatically export the stylized view you have made into a PDF file.

If you want to keep this format for future surveys, you can save this configuration.

  • Click the top bar where it says "Default Config" and start typing to create a new "template". For this example I am naming my changes as "NovemberTemplate"

  • Press Enter and it will create this new template. As You make changes on your PDF, make sure to press SAVE or SAVE AS NEW if you want it to be a new template.
