AutoSync Workflow Overview for Real-Time Data Syncing
1. What AutoSync is for 0:00
Introduces the AutoSync feature in the mobile app.
Designed for teams working in a fully connected environment.
Purpose: keep data synced in real time between devices and the server.
2. Turn on AutoSync when prompted 0:16
You may see an AutoSync prompt when you:
log in
switch teams
update the app/session
Selecting AutoSync enables automatic syncing between your device and the server.
3. Understand what happens while AutoSync is on 0:33
As you pan around the map, your device syncs data automatically.
Any data you collect, such as:
surveys
points
lines
polygons
...will appear on your co-worker’s device in real time if they also have AutoSync enabled.
4. Manually control AutoSync in settings 0:47
You can also turn AutoSync on or off manually.
Go to the Settings menu.
Toggle AutoSync on or off depending on your workflow.
5. Work offline when service is unavailable 0:57
If you go out of service or switch to offline mode (for example, airplane mode):
you can still collect data
the data stays on your device while disconnected
This is useful for disconnected field work.
6. Reconnect and push your offline data 1:11
Once you return to an area with service, the app detects that you are back online.
You can then push your offline data to the server.
This lets your collected data sync after reconnecting.
7. Use AutoSync for automatic push and fetch 1:31
In online AutoSync mode, the app will automatically:
push your changes
fetch updates from co-workers
This supports real-time collaboration and keeps everyone working from the latest data.
8. Manual sync mode is still available 1:42
If AutoSync is off, the app switches to manual sync mode.
In this mode, you must still push and fetch data yourself.
Use this when you do not want automatic syncing.
9. Summary of the new workflow 1:57
The new workflow supports both:
AutoSync on for automatic real-time syncing
AutoSync off for manual push/fetch syncing
The video closes by reinforcing that AutoSync is meant to simplify real-time data sharing across the team.
