1. Open the survey or template you want to review 0:00
This walkthrough shows how to view version history for surveys and templates.
You can use history like an audit log to see past edits.
From history, you can:
View a previous version
Restore a previous version
Create a new copy from an older version
2. Access the history menu from a survey 0:23
Open the survey and go to Edit Survey.
Click the three-dot menu at the top.
If you have the correct permissions, select History.
This opens a list of all updated versions of the survey.
3. Review and restore a previous survey version 0:36
In the history list, click the eyeball icon to preview a specific version.
If you want to return the survey to that version, choose Restore.
This replaces the current survey with the selected earlier version.
4. Create a new survey from an older version 0:47
If you want to keep the old version but also make a new record, use Restore as New.
This creates a new survey record based on the selected historical version.
Use this when you want a copy rather than overwriting the current survey.
5. Access template history from the template editor 1:19
The same history functionality is available for templates.
If you are the owner of the template, you can access it from within the survey.
After editing the template, open History to see all template changes.
6. Restore or roll back a template version carefully 1:42
You can view past template versions and roll back to an earlier one.
Be careful when restoring templates:
Existing collected data may not match the template’s current schema
This can create conflicts
Always confirm the rollback will not break data compatibility.
7. Find templates from other entry points if you have permission 2:00
You can also access templates from the list view if you have the right permissions.
Another path is through the sidebar template editor.
In the main editor, the History option is also available for templates.
These different entry points all lead to the same version-history workflow.
