How to Change the Coordinate System in the NRDS 2 Mobile App

In Settings, you can switch between coordinate systems such as decimal degrees (the default), UTM, and degrees-minute-seconds. The chosen coordinate system then affects how points are viewed.

How to Change the Coordinate System in the NRDS 2 Mobile App

1. Open the coordinate settings 0:10

  • Go to Settings in the NRDS 2 mobile app.

  • Find the Coordinate setting.

  • This is where you choose which coordinate system the app will display and use.

2. Choose your preferred coordinate system 0:19

  • The default coordinate system is decimal degrees.

  • You can switch to other formats, such as:

    • UTM

    • Degrees-minutes-seconds

  • Select the format that matches your workflow or local standard.

3. View existing points in the selected format 0:35

  • After changing the setting, open a point and view its coordinates.

  • The app will display the point in the coordinate system you selected.

  • Example:

    • Decimal degrees when that option is selected

    • UTM when UTM is selected

4. Create new points using the selected coordinate system 0:48

  • When creating a new point, the app records and displays the coordinates in the active coordinate system.

  • If you use Current Location, the coordinates will be shown in the format you selected.

  • Save the point once you confirm the coordinates.

5. Switch formats anytime and the app converts automatically 1:06

  • You can change the coordinate system again at any time.

  • The app automatically converts the same point into the newly selected format.

  • Example:

    • Switch from UTM to degrees-minutes-seconds

    • The coordinates update immediately in that format

6. Use whichever coordinate system fits your needs 1:23

  • The NRDS 2 mobile app supports multiple coordinate system options.

  • This gives you flexibility to work in the format that best matches your project or location.

  • The setting affects both viewing and creating points.
