How to Create and Print a Printable Map in NRDS
1. Create and style your custom map 0:00

2. Open the print tools 0:20

This opens the print interface with two views:
Map orientation view: where you add and arrange map elements.
Print preview: where you see how the final map will look.
3. Add and adjust the legend 1:00
In Map orientation view, add a legend based on the layers currently turned on in the sidebar.
Switch to Print preview to move the legend into place.
Resize the legend as needed so everything fits cleanly.
If the layout looks off, adjust and experiment until the legend redraws correctly.
4. Add an inset map 2:07
In Map orientation view, insert an inset map.
Turn off any inset layers you do not want shown.
In Print preview, position the inset where you want it, such as the top-left corner.
Resize the inset as needed.
Zoom the main map out in Map orientation view if you need to show the full area.
5. Customize map decorations 2:52
In Print preview, adjust the north arrow:
Change its color.
Move it to a better location on the page.
Do the same for the scale bar.
Add a text box if you want a title, date, or other notes.
Click Add > Text.
Move the text box to the right spot.
Edit the text directly, such as: map of my farm on 7-1-26.
6. Save different map versions if needed 3:37
Save the map as one version if you want to keep the current layout.
Make another saved version if you want a variation, such as:
a version without labels
a version with different text at the bottom
This lets you keep multiple printable layouts.
7. Print the final PDF 4:14
When the map looks right in preview, click Print PDF at the bottom.
NRDS will generate a PDF that matches the print preview.
Use the PDF for printing or sharing your finished map.
