Using Filters to Symbolize and Filter Data on NRDS Web Application

For example create a map of last check dates

Here is a short video describing layer expressions

Here is a longer video with an example of building a map that shows last check dates

Using Layer Filters for Symbology on Custom Maps

Symbology Creation 0:14

  • Two methods to create symbology:

    • Using Symbology:

      • Symbolizes items based on options (e.g., active vs. deactivated).

      • Example: Active is green, deactivated is red.

    • Using Layer Filters:

      • Allows filtering based on options, dates, or numbers.

Examples of Layer Filters 0:45

  • Multiple expressions can display different scenarios on a map:

    • Example: Trap checks within different time frames:

      • Within 90 days

      • 90 to 180 days

      • Greater than 180 days.

Types of Expressions 1:06

  • Two types of expressions for layer filters:

    • Expressions:

      • Based on survey questions.

    • Feature Expressions:

      • Use metadata (e.g., added by, added).

      • Example: Show features added by the current user.

Creating Expressions 1:43

  • How to create expressions:

    • Use survey questions to create expressions based on options.

    • Use templates, numbers, or date math.

    • Example: Show items last checked within the last 90 days.

6. Using the Help Feature 2:24

  • To learn how to create an expression:

    • Click the question mark icon for guidance.

Combining Expressions 2:33

  • Combine expressions using:

    • AND statements

    • OR statements

  • For complex expressions:

    • Copy and paste existing statements and modify them.
